Our Walk Along the Camino Portuguese

Roman Roads and Railways  Camino Portuguese Pilgrimage   We headed out around 6:20 AM this morning in an effort to cover some ground before the heat of the day set in. When we left the albergue we were greeted with a magical landscape where everything was shrouded in thick fog.   As we passed through town we saw the remnants of last night's celebrations, which carried on into the wee hours of the morning. A festive-looking archway was particularly beautiful in the fog.   A new addition to our Camino came relatively early in the morning when we found ourselves walking down a set of train tracks. This felt very strange, but eventually ,the tracks brought us to a railway cafe that was open and serving coffee. Since we hadn't had any breakfast, this was a very welcome find. Amazing Vistas and Pilgrim Meals on Camino Portuguese Pilgrimage When we awoke this morning the world outside was swathed in a thick layer of fog. We made our way down to a lovely breakfast buffet with cereal, bread, jam, cakes, pastries, juice, and fantastic coffee around 7:30 AM. Our walk today began with 2 km of highway until we passed a McDonald's and then turned off into a smaller town to rejoin the Camino. Although the world looked mysterious and romantic as the sun burned through the mist, it was hardly an inspiring start to the day.     The next bit of hiking was through a town that presented many interesting tiled and decaying buildings, as well as many cafes, that surprisingly were open on this Sunday morning.
